GOST 17375 elbow
What is a GOST 17375 Elbow?
A GOST 17375 elbow is a seamless or welded butt-welded pipe elbow manufactured to the Russian GOST 17375 standard, which covers 90-degree stamped bends for pipeline systems. Available in seamless and welded construction, it is the standard elbow specification used in Russia, the CIS countries, Eastern Europe, and projects following Russian pipeline engineering codes.
Standards and Dimensions
GOST 17375 covers 90-degree stamped elbows from DN15 to DN500. The bend radius is typically 1.5 times the nominal diameter (long radius). Wall thickness follows the standard table based on pressure class. GOST 17375 is part of a series covering fittings: GOST 17375 (elbows), GOST 17376 (tees), GOST 17378 (reducers), and GOST 17379 (caps).
Materials and Grades
Common materials include steel grades 20, 20#, 10G2, 16Mn, and 09G2S per Russian standards. Carbon steel 20 is equivalent to A106 Gr.B and 20#. Low-temperature grades include 09G2S and 17Gs for service down to minus 40 or minus 60 degrees Celsius. Stainless steel grades include 12X18H10T (equivalent to 321). Material is supplied with Russian passports (certificates).
Pressure and Temperature Ratings
GOST 17375 elbows are rated for pressure classes PN16, PN25, PN40, PN63, and PN100 per Russian pressure tables. Carbon steel 20 operates from minus 40 degrees Celsius to 425 degrees Celsius. Low-temperature grades 09G2S and 17Gs extend service down to minus 60 degrees Celsius for cryogenic and northern climate applications.
Applications
GOST 17375 elbows are used in oil and gas pipelines, refineries, petrochemical plants, district heating, water systems, and industrial piping in Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, and other CIS countries. They are standard on Russian-designed EPC projects and oil field infrastructure developed under GOST and Eurasian Economic Union standards.
Advantages
GOST 17375 elbows are manufactured to Russian dimensional and material specifications, ensuring compatibility with CIS pipeline systems. Seamless construction provides high pressure integrity. Low-temperature grades support Arctic and Siberian service. The standard is well established across Russian oil and gas, power, and municipal infrastructure.
Installation Guidelines
Prepare beveled ends per GOST 17375 end preparation dimensions. Align the elbow with the mating pipe, tack weld, and complete full-penetration welds using Russian filler metal grades such as YOKHNA 13/55. Apply preheat for carbon steel grades at low ambient temperature. Welding procedures should follow GOST 16037 and Russian welding codes.
Quality Assurance
Each GOST 17375 elbow is marked with DN size, wall thickness, material grade, heat number, standard number, and manufacturer's stamp. Inspection includes dimensional checks, wall thickness measurement, visual examination, hydraulic pressure testing, and NDE when specified. Russian quality passports (certificates) are provided. Elbows are coated with rust-preventive oil and ends are protected for shipping.
